He will be missed greatly!!
(Note from Chrystal: I believe Delia Johnson is Lee daughter of Mary and grandchildren and great-grandchildren include "steps", sister Molly McDowell is his first cousin, but she was raised by his parents and called him brother.)

He was in the Navy C.B.'s (construction battalion). In a message from Molly Bailey McDowell," He drove the barges that took the men from the battle ships to the beaches. He was there for two invasions. He just missed Iwa Jima. They were cleaning up when he got there, but he was in the middle of the fighting on Okinawa. I used to sit and listen to him talk of his war stories."
