"First Settlers of Red River County, Texas", Reports of the Clerk of the Board of Land Commissioners: page 20, #141, * Amos Bailey, one league and one labor; Emigration: Jany. 17, 1836. * Appeared on the list approved by the Travelling Commissioners.
He was listed as a Witness for various reasons on the following dates: Jan. 31, 1838, July 7, 1840, Sept. 13, 1841, 1843 and Jan. 1844.
In his daughters obituary (Martha Bailey Dosier) he was said to have been a pioneer Christian preacher.
[247] According to the Descriptive Muster Roll of Captain William Becknell's Company of Mounted Volunteer Rangers called the Red River Blues which was mustered into service on July 14, 1836 at James Clarks Sulphurfork Prairie: A.C.C. Bayley was 30 years old. Which would put his birth date at about 1806.

Herman H. Huff, 74, of 417 S. 1st St. died at 11:05 a.m. Monday in a Waco hospital after an illness of several days.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home chapel the Rev. Jack Hopkins of Little River officiating. Burial will be in Oenaville Cemetery.
Mr. Huff was born in Oenaville. He lived in Temple most of his life. He was a veteran of World War I and a retired farmer. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Modine Clark of Little River and Mrs. Lula Baggett of Lott; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Huff died Monday in a Waco Hospital.
