[173] It looks like he is listed as JM Baily Junior on 1880 Hill County Census. Perhaps it was because he was living next door to his father?
On the 1900 Coleman County, Texas census his lists his father being born in Miss., and his mother being born in KY. He is living in the household of his son Virgil on the 1930 McCulloch County, Texas Census.

There is a John M. Bailey, 59 and a wd. on the 1910 Menard County, Texas Census, in the household of Joseph (Joe) Crisp, listed as a hired hand, born in Texas and parents born in Miss. and Ky., I believe this is the correct John M. Bailey, but not 100% sure.

[185] LDS microfiche says he was born in Johnson County, TX.

[186] He is listed as being born on March 29, 1850 on his death certificate. (he is not listed in his parents household on the 1850 Census and is listed as age 9 on the 1960 census)

[2264] Marriage License reads: John Bailey of Williamson County aged 21 years and Mary E. Houston of Travis County aged 18 years and that they married at John Bailey's house.
