MRS. OTIS MARTIN
Tuesday morning, February 6, at 2 o'clock the death angel visited the home of Otis Martin and carried away his loving wife, Anna.
Mrs. Martin was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Geralds of Cave City.
she is survived by her husband and nine children, Francis, Charlie, Virgil, Merle, Anna Laura, Marjorie, Ray, Nina Gay, Martha Lena and June. Also by her aged parents and three brothers, Arthur, Johnnie Geralds of Cave City and Harley Geralds of Tompkinsville, and four sisters, Mrs. Ethel Hagan, Mrs. Lillie Toohey, Mrs. Lawrence Tisdell of Cave City and Mrs. Bob Lively of Horse Cave.
Mrs. Martin was a member of the Church of Christ at Foster's Grove, near Cave City. She was always in her place at church when possible for her to be there, and even after she was stricken with that dread disease, cancer, she missed very few Lord's days. She said if it was the Lord's will for her to go she was ready.
Oh! What a consolation it is for those she left behind, and we fully believe that today she is basking in the sunlight of God's love. We will miss her in our Bible Class each Lord's Day, but in the language of Paul, "She hath fought a good fight, she hath kept the faith, henceforth there is laid up for her a crown of righteousness."
The husband and children have our deepest sympathy and our prayer is that they will live so they can meet her where there will be no more goodbys.
Funeral services were held at Foster's Grove by Bro. Warren Dunagan and burial in the Horse Cave cemetery.
-Mrs. Ernest Sartin
(Note: This is the only time I have seen her name listed as Anna; Marjorie, Ray, is Marjorie Rhea. Mrs. Ethel Hagan, should be Hogan: CBT)
[3886] Otis and Annie were married in a hotel. The name of the hotel is unreadable on the Marriage Certificate (it is possible that it reads Despain Hotel?). John Lively and Arthur Gerald (Annie's brother) were witnesses. (I have a photo of her headstone)
