A Note about Willie: Taken from an e-mail message received from Iva Swinney Smith.
Will Crain was a farmer and made moonshine. There is a photo of him with a barrel over his shoulder. Will was a gambler, played the banjo and loved music - said to be a fine looking man. Geneva said he got them up in the middle of the night and packed all their belongings and moved them to Kentucky. No one ever knew why.

[1053] On the 1900 Barren Co. Ky census he is listed as John Akin Geralds and that he was born in Oct. 1942, in Kentucky. (I have a photo of his headstone)

An obituary was found in Glasgow Daily Times on Nov. 11, 1909 (I have not seen it, it was typed and sent to me by Jenni Wilcoxson, but is very interesting, because if this is not the correct obit. for John, it's very close. But it doesn't mention all of his children that were still living at the time of his death.
Mr. Akron (sic) Geralds died at the home of his son-in-law, Mr. Ewing Gardner, in Cave City, last Sunday morning. Mr. Geralds was a good, quiet citizen, well-like by those who knew him. He was in his seventies and died from a complication of diseases. He was the father of Messrs. Jim and Robert Geralds and Mrs. Ewing Gardner and Mrs. George Brownfield, all of the Cave City country. His wife also survives him. The remains were interred in the Cave City Cemetery Monday evening last, after funeral services in the Methodist church in that place.
[3878] On the 1900 Barren County census, they are listed as being married for 38 years, and having had 9 children and that ? were still living (can't read). It could read that 6 were still living.
