She is listed as Orena on the 1920 Hart County Census. She is listed on the 1930 Hart County, Kentucky census, with the last name of Cran on Ancestry.com. She attended Waterloo School, for the school year 1931-1932. (I have a photo of her headstone)
[1431] Family story goes that Virgil said that Lorene was easier to say. She went by Lorene until her death. Her children and grandchildren did not know that her name was Lorena until the funeral of Virgil in 1987.
[1439] Birth certificate is in the name of Lorena Francis Crain, it reads that she was born at 3:30 p.m.

Virgil and Lorene got married under their middle names the first time on Jan. 3, 1937, in Indianapolis, however I have not found a record of it. I have heard the story that after they married they later found out the person who married them papers' had expired, so they had to get remarried. They always celebrated their first wedding date. They were married a second time in Warren County, KY, on Dec. 27, 1938.

Virgil and Lorene Martin, of Robstown, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary today with a dinner. They were married Jan. 3, 1937, in Indianapolis, Ind. They have four children, Shriley F. Martin and Carolyn L. Flynn, both of Robstown, Sandra S. Bailey of Dallas, Glenn W. Martin of Corpus Christi, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
