I have not been able to find Alvin and Malinda on the 1900 census. Possible parents for Malinda are William C. and Nancy C. Clark James.

Her son CC Stephens was listed as informant on her death certificate, he didn't put down her birth date and it reads about 60 (years old). It reads that she was born in Medcalf Co., Ky (Metcalfe Co. didn't exist in the 1830's) It reads that her parents where born in Virginia and that father's name was (looks like) Parr? James, mothers name unknown. It also reads that she was married AND widowed.

MRS. MALINDA STEVENS
Dies of Heart Failure at Home on Fifteenth Street.
Mrs. Malinda Stevens, a highly respected woman of Owensboro, died of heart trouble at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, at her home at 1010 Fifteenth street. Mrs. Stevens had been ill for three weeks, and her death was not unexpected.
Mrs. Stevens was seventy years of age, and has resided in Owensboro for over twenty-five years. She is survived by her husband, A.C. Stevens, one son, C.C. Stevens, of Owensboro; three brothers, L.B. James, of Portland, Ore: J.F. and Calvin James, of Edmondson, Ky. and one sister, Miss Anna James of Metcalf, Ky.
The funeral will be conducted from the residence at 2 o'clock this afternoon, with the Interment following in Elmwood cemetery.

The funeral of Mrs. Malinda Stevens, who died at her home on Fifteenth street, at 8 o'clock Wednesday morning, took place from the residence at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, with the interment following in the Elmwood cemetery.
