[616] According to the Descriptive Muster Roll of Captain William Becknell's Company of Mounted Volunteer Rangers called the Red River Blues which was mustered into service on July 14, 1836 at James Clarks Sulphurfork Prairie: Mausel W. Matthews was 28 years old. Which would put his birth date at about 1808. His birth day could have been the 24th or the 29th.
