I found a Benj Patterson born about 1823 in El Dorado County, California 1850 Census (Oct. 11, 1850 on the Conumnes River) In the same household, Geo. B. Spencer age 28, born Ohio; Irwin? Williams age 22 born Ohio; and Wm. Calvin? age 43 born in Pa. It has not been proven 100% by me that this is the same person, but it is likely.
There is an unknown male age 6 born in Wis., named Warren Coffee listed in their household, in 1860 Fayette Co., Wisc. This same Warren Coffee is listed age 17 born in Wis., in the household of his sister Clara Spencer on the 1870 Howard County, Iowa Census. He seems to move with their mother Fanny.
There is a James Drake age 79 born in Pa., listed as uncle in their household on the 1880 Howard County, Iowa census.
On the 1900 Howard County, Iowa census there is a 10 month old born July 1899 in Iowa named Harold Pratt in their household listed as grandson. It is assumed that the 10 month-old's father is Joseph Pratt, who is listed as a wd. with son's Raymond born Aug. 1887 and Lee B? born Sept. 1890, in Howard County, Iowa in 1900 with brother-in-law James M. Patterson and his family living with him. It is unknown to me which of Benjamin and Rachel's daughters married Joseph Pratt. Also there is a Josie Coffee born Sept 1880? born in Iowa, living in their household listed as border. (June 2005)

On the 1900 Howard County, Iowa census they list that they had been married for 42 years and they had 11 children and that 8 were still living.
On the 1910 Calcaieu Parish, Louisana census, they listed they had been married for 53 years and had 11 children and that 7 were still living.
