[670] On the 1850 Hopkins County, Texas Census, there is a John Prince age 23, who is a teacher born in Tenn., and his wife Harriet C. age 22, who are listed in his household, it is unknown to me their relationship if any. Also listed on the 1850 census is a list of slaves that he "owned": one black male age 27, one black female age 21, one black male age 6 and one mulatto female age 1.

[673] Historical marker at cemetery denotes, Mr. Lindley was the first person buried at this location. Headstone on grave denotes 13 set of initials representing his children's names. JM, RG, EO, JW, MR, AT, SM, JS, EF, EJ, ME, TG, JD.
