Corpus Christi Caller-Times, Jan. 2, 2005
Bailey
Our beloved father, husband, and grandfather, Guy Remington Bailey, 85, went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2005 after a long illness. He was born on January 23, 1919, in Lawton, Oklahoma. He served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maggie Lee Bailey, and his son, Aubrey Bailey.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Bailey of Corpus Christi, Texas; two daughters, Pat (Fred) Lytle of Mathis, Texas, and Delia Johnson of Corpus Christi, Texas; one son, Virgil (Mary Lou) Bailey of Robstown, Texas; and daughter-in-law Gwyn Bailey of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one sister, Molly (Gene) McDowell of Fredrickstown, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2005, and from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Monday, January 3, 2005, at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors, 4901 Everhart Road.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 3, 2005 at Seaside Memorial Park.
He will be missed greatly!!
(Note from Chrystal: I believe Delia Johnson is Lee daughter of Mary and grandchildren and great-grandchildren include "steps", sister Molly McDowell is his first cousin, but she was raised by his parents and called him brother.)

[170] He was in the Navy C.B.'s (construction battalion). In a message from Molly Bailey McDowell," He drove the barges that took the men from the battle ships to the beaches. He was there for two invasions. He just missed Iwa Jima. They were cleaning up when he got there, but he was in the middle of the fighting on Okinawa. I used to sit and listen to him talk of his war stories."
